Privacy Policy

1. What data is collected

This site collects aggregate usage statistics only, for general readership analytics:

2. What is not collected

This site does not use cookies, and does not create any persistent or unique identifier that would let different visits be linked to the same person - not via a cookie, not via browser fingerprinting, and not via a fixed hash of an IP address. There is no cross-site tracking, and no personal profile is built for any visitor.

3. Data retention

The aggregate data described above is kept indefinitely. Because this data is genuinely aggregate and anonymous, and does not allow identification of an individual user, long-term retention does not create any additional privacy risk to any user.

4. How IP addresses are handled

Each request's IP address is used only momentarily, to determine which country the request came from. After this momentary use, the IP address itself is discarded and not stored - only the resulting country code is kept in the database, never the raw IP address.

Beyond this, the site's infrastructure providers - Cloudflare (which operates the aggregate analytics service) and GitHub Pages (which hosts the site itself) - process IP addresses momentarily at their own edge level, for basic operational purposes of the service (such as traffic routing and protection against attacks). This processing is entirely separate from the site's own analytics code (cf-analytics), which does not access the IP address at all, and is subject to those providers' own privacy policies.

5. Who operates this site

This site is operated and written by Meir Shemesh, as a personal project. For any question or request related to privacy or the data collected, contact: meir@meirshemesh.com.

This site currently operates as a personal, non-commercial project. The site owner reserves the right to turn the site, in whole or in part, into a commercial activity in the future - and in such a case, this privacy policy will be updated accordingly before any such change takes effect, to reflect the site's updated commercial status and the resulting implications for data processing.

6. Israeli privacy law and GDPR

This is a small, non-commercial personal project intended for readers in Israel and elsewhere. The data collected is genuinely aggregate and anonymous - it cannot be used to identify a specific visitor - so the privacy risk is very low. For transparency, however:

In Israel, the Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981, applies, including Amendment 13 (in effect since 2025), which tightened security and reporting obligations for databases. This site follows a data- minimization principle - collecting only what is needed for general statistics, and nothing more.

For readers outside Israel, in particular in the European Union: this site does not collect "personal data" as defined under the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), since the data collected is aggregate and cannot be linked to an identified or identifiable visitor. Any questions on this can be directed to the email address above.
